Things to Consider Before Buying a Refurbished Phone

This day you can buy preowned or certified used phones for the half price of the new one. But before you buy them, you need to be careful of a few things such as,

1. Check that the phone is not stolen.

Make sure the phones are from a reputable site in wellington. Call them or visit the store to verify their identity. This will ensure the items have clear IMEIs and check them on this site to see if they are not blacklisted

Check the status of your handset – TCF Use the IMEI lookup tool below to check if an IMEI is blacklisted. WARNING: This IMEI check only provides details of those phones reported and blocked at the time of the inquiry therefore it is not conclusive. If the owner of the phone does not report it lost or stolen prior to your purchase, the resulting IMEI check cannot identify it as a lost or stolen handset. www.tcf.org.nz

2. Make sure the Phone is Unlocked for New Zealand

Only buy phones which are unlocked for the New Zealand market. Check if the phone is from the International carrier and if so it is unlocked for NZ Carrier

 3. Ask or check for the Battery Life

Battery performance does slowly diminish over time, however, even a three- or four-year-old phone should still have perfectly good battery life. Ask the retailer about the battery life and see if the battery has been replaced in the current phone and if the phone is displaying the battery health accurately.

4. Check for Warranty

Always prefer the reseller who provides a warranty, most of the ones come with 90 days of warranty which is enough to test your phone and report in case of any malfunction.

5. Face ID Working Always check and confirm if the Face ID is working and the screen is not replaced and still using the genuine original as provided by the manufacturer. Some repairers take the original screen and replace it with substandard or non-genuine parts and sell the phone for a cheaper price.

At One Stop Repairs, all our phones are backed by a warranty and use genuine parts. We stock from iPhone to Samsung all kinds of used phones at an affordable price and can deliver anywhere in New Zealand.
